Following on from my previous article about having a plan for your business I thought I would share with you something that I have been taught with regards to taking effective action in my lifestyle business each and every day, Not only does this approach focus on building your business and income it also helps you to focus on another important aspect of your business development: You!

Read on to discover what tasks leaders do on a daily basis to help them build their successful businesses and ensure that they are always moving forward and developing themselves in order to be able to adapt and thrive in an ever changing world.

I present to you “5 Things Leaders Do On A Daily Basis”

1. Daily visualisation and meditation on your goals

You should be dedicating time each day to reviewing and meditating on the goals that you have set for yourself and your business. Think about what it is you are trying to achieve, what sort of impact do you want to make on the world and what aspirations do you have personally, professionally and financially.

Dare to dream big, visualise yourself having achieved these goals and imagine what your life will be like once you do. Spend 5-10 minutes each day reaffirming with yourself why it is that you are trying to build an online or lifestyle business and use this to help fuel you through the tough times that you will inevitably face.

Do not underestimate the power of this activity, it can be easy to forget to do this (I know I need to do a better job of it) but set aside some time each day, in a quiet space where you can relax and put this into practise, once you've formed the habit of doing so it'll become a natural part of your day.

2. Value providing and income producing activity

This should come as no surprise, it's important to ensure that when you do take action it is effective and will lead to your business growing. It's no good ‘doing' things each day if they don't have the ability to ultimately help you to grow your business and one of the best ways to ensure that your business and reputation grows is to provide regular value to prospects and your customers.

Depending on what your business is these types of activities can take many forms; as a blogger you should be creating content that delivers useful and helpful information to your readers, a time management expert could provide a top tip for gaining back valuable time during your customers busy days whereas a software developer could be fixing bugs or adding features to your platform.

If you are an affiliate marketer you could be purchasing and testing products to recommend, product developers or service providers can be posting ads in relevant locations or fine tuning their paid for advertising with the likes of Google Ads or Bing Ads. I'm sure you can determine what activities will be the most effective to help you grow your business and produce an income, so I'll leave the finer details up to you.

And of course, this should be where the bulk of your time is spent, say 60-90 minutes per day if possible although if you are in a position to effectively achieve these tasks in less time then by all means be as efficient as possible, just remember to take action.

3. Invest in yourself

I find that it can be really easy to forget that at the heart of your lifestyle or online businesses is you. You are the driving force behind your business and you need to ensure that you take the time to build and grow your own knowledge and take of yourself. After all if you do not continue to evolve as a person and entrepreneur then how will you be able to grow and adapt your business to changes in the marketplace.

So, take the time to develop your skills, read books or listen to audio if you prefer. Invest in learning new skills that you can apply to your business or simply use to develop yourself as a person, do not think that your business is the only thing that deserves your investment of time and money.

Look at where you are in your journey, think about who you are. decide what you have to do in order to more forward personally and as an entrepreneur and then invest the time, money and energy to do just that.

4. Learn from and mastermind with other leaders

Jim Rohn has said that we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with so doesn't it stand to reason that if you aspire to be a successful entrepreneur you need to learn from and be surrounded by successful entrepreneurs?

Take the time to find leaders that you can relate to, whether it be through joining a community dedicated to the same goals that you have or finding training programs that have been developed by people in your industry. If you can find a like-minded group of people to be in regular contact and grow together with then by all means take advantage of this as you will all benefit from the collective knowledge you can share amongst yourselves.

Step out of your comfort zone and reach out to people that inspire you, take part in forums or webinars where you can interact with these people and do not be afraid to express yourself and ask questions. These other leaders have gone through the same challenges that you are facing and can help you to avoid the pitfalls that could derail your plans for success, why not take a shortcut if it presents itself?

5. Teach, inspire and lead

Lastly, if you aspire to be a leader in your industry or chosen profession then you need to expect leadership from yourself and inspire others around you through your actions. Take the time to help others when they may be struggling with issues that you have previously solved or overcome, share your knowledge and help to elevate your customers or others within your industry to achieve their goals.

Don't concern yourself with worrying about sharing your secrets to success with others, instead have an outlook of abundance whereby there are plenty of opportunities and chances for success to go around. If you are seen to be helping people to grow their business and are looked to for guidance then this will establish you as a leader within your industry and you will reap the benefits in the long run.

It's fair to say that building a lifestyle or online business is not an easy task and it can be difficult to know what areas you need to focus on in order to be successful. My hope is that you are able to use this article to define a set of daily tasks which will help to develop you personally as well as put you on the path to achieving the targets you have for your business.
